seems like just about everything is as fucked up as it can get. my old man used to say, “you and me till the wheels fall off, babe” — well, won’t be long now unless we make some major shifts.
like what? like not going into afghanistan, for starters. how did our brandy-new anti-war president come to believe that MORE troops will lead us to LESS war? who is really calling the shots in washington? is there some dick cheney lunatic behind the curtains?
jordan page thinks so:
if i wasn’t shitting my pants already, i would be after watching that video. this simply isn’t the country that i was born in. page says, “it’s gonna happen here” while the video shows how it’s ALREADY happening here.
if you’re free to go to DC this saturday (wish i was, i’d be there in a heartbeat) there will be a major protest at the white house:
Emergency Anti-War Rally at the White House against President Obama’s planned military escalation in Afghanistan
• WHEN: Saturday, December 12, 11:00 am to 4:00 pm (rain or shine)
• WHERE: Lafayette Park in Washington, DC, across from the White House
Speakers for the rally will include Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), former Rep. Cynthia McKinney, former Sen. Mike Gravel, three-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee Kathy Kelly, Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Chris Hedges, author David Swanson, Rev. Graylan Hagler, Capt. Ron Fisher, Gael Murphy (CODEPINK), Debra Sweet (World Can’t Wait), Elaine Brower (Military Families Speak Out), Brian Becker (A.N.S.W.E.R.), Mathis Chiroux (Iraq Veterans Against the War), among many other national peace leaders. Musicians Jordan Page, Head-Roc and others will perform. Check the website for updates.
Join us in our demand that President Obama must announce an immediate ceasefire in Iraq and Afghanistan to end the wars and order our troops home. He must stop Predator drone attacks and covert operations in Pakistan, and he must begin immediate reconstruction and recovery in war torn regions.
If the President does not meet these demands, he will face intensified opposition, with anti-war candidates prepared to defeat his war policy politically.
Along with the rally on December 12, the film “Rethink Afghanistan” will be shown Friday December 11, from 8:00 to 10:00 pm at Busboys & Poets, 14th and V Streets NW in Washington, DC.
please pass this information along.
meanwhile, uninsured americans continue to die of eminently curable diseases. hell, people with insurance are dying of eminently curable causes due to pre-existing conditions. some of those conditions include acne and living with an abusive spouse. no, i didn’t make this up; luckily my imagination isn’t quite that cruel.
more on healthcare tomorrow. today, let’s get the word out about saturday’s protest. target: two million bodies on the white house lawn saying NO. saying:
what do we want? peace! when do we want it? NOW!
over and out.

I have so many mixed emotions about this. If fucking Bush had sustained the offensive in Afghanistan to begin with instead of using it as a smokescreen to illegally invade Iraq, we wouldn’t be in this mess. I know Obama thinks he’s righting the wrong Bush started, but his idea that he can commit all these troops then pull them out in Summer 2011 is naive. Damn it, he’s gonna be a one-termer.
We’re so fucked. Sorry, there’s nothing more intelligent making its way out of my head at the moment. Fucked.
I feel solidarity with anyone who shows up at that anti-war demo, but from my own experience demonstrating vs. going to war in Iraq and protesting our invasion there and our occupation there, i doubt that even the best-intentioned protestors can influence a gov’t bankrolled by the military-industrial complex. The gov’t sits entrenched in Washington and paid for by corporate largesse, while demonstrators must travel from all over and never do (can?) enough show up to halt the war machine.
Yesterday President Karzai said that it would be at least five years before Afghanistan had any sense of self contol over its own destiny, and he definately knows his country better than anyone over here. So our fucking exalted leader, whose campaign for “change we can believe in”, has rapidly deteriorated into “are you fucking kidding me?”, has told us that he will, at his almighty generals’ request, send in 30,000 troops with a deadline of 18 months. Now we already know that the Solviet army, at its strongest, spent ten full years getting its ass kicked by the Afghan resistance, because the climate and the terrain is totally counterproductive for their type of military, with all its heavy equipment. Our forces have the same problem. So while the Taliban spend 18 months holed up in the hills getting blowjobs and smoking opium, we’ll be seeing a complete lack of resistance, except for the thousands of troops getting picked off by the experienced snipers who are fresh off the high of poppies and orgasms. Then, after we’ve left, if we actually do leave, it will be the same as it ever was, same as it ever was, same as it ever was. WE just don’t understand the problem, which is that the primary reason that they are pissed of at us is that we promised to help them rebuild their country after the Solviets left, and also to help remove over a million mines left in their country. What we actually did was to leave them high and dry in abject poverty, hurting for food and medical supplies, in complete ruins. This is a major reason why Al Queda based its operations in Afghanistan, and was a major factor behind 9/11. It just doesn’t make sense to fight a war just to hunt down Al Queda and leave the country ruined again as collateral damage. These idiots who we voted for are proposing a 30 billion dollar per year budget for this war. This is insane. There are only two ways to do this. One, since most of the world’s opium is grown here, we need to defoliate the whole country, so that no warlords can continue to profit and fight against organized government. And if that puts a lot of law enforcement people and lawyers out of business as well, fuck em, they only live off of peoples hardships anyway. And two, why can’t we just offer to help them without fighting a war on their land? Imagine their country as your pet, for a moment. Imagine your friend beating the crap out of your pet while you’re gone, and locking it in a closet. Now you get home, and you can tell by the whimpers that something is wrong. So you call to your pet,”don’t worry, I’ll help you, I’m, coming.” But you don’t come. You just sit on your ass five feet away, eating delicious meat that your pet can smell through that closet door, day after day after day. Imagine that scenario, and that is tantamount to how we ignored Afghanistan in its time of need, when we PROMISED to help them, and now we, in our infinite wisdom expect them to trust US??? Poppycock!!!
Sounds more like YOU got fucked by John Mackey and didn’t cum…
